We have a super cool extracurricular workshop in Amsterdam in collaboration with the Poet in Residence from Poetry International on June 5th.
Poetry International
Poetry International is best known for the annual Poetry International Festival, which has been bringing the top international poetry to Rotterdam and presenting it to a large number of enthusiasts since 1970. In addition to the annual festival, they have a large online poetry collection called Poetry Archives, which features around 1,200 poets and 11,000 poems from all over the world.
Poet in Residence
For several years now, Poetry International has been offering a poet who cannot work freely in their home country due to economic, social, or political reasons, a place as Poet in Residence in Rotterdam. In April and May, the poet is given the time and space to write, to get to know the city and its residents, and relevant contacts in the literary and cultural field are established.
2024 Felix Chow
Felix Chow is an academic and poet from Hong Kong. In his work, Chow addresses difficult and political subjects such as the 2019 Hong Kong student protests. The fact that he belongs to the younger generation of Hong Kong is central to his poetic and academic work. He also engages with and uses the playfulness of Kongish, the type of English fused with Cantonese spoken in Hong Kong. Felix Chow has received multiple awards, such as the Maisie Choa English Poetry Prize, and he won the HKBU Century Club Citywide English Poetry Competition.
The workshop
On June 5th, Felix will visit our office in Amsterdam to conduct a 2-hour workshop on writing.
